Correspondence, writings, speeches, reports, research notes, legal and legislative documents, clippings, and printed material, relating to Landis' activities as a member and subsequent chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (1934-1947) and the U.S. Emergency Board (Carriers and Employees, 1938), for which he participated in the drafting of a report on the wage controversy during the 1938 railway strike; and as a trial examiner for the U.S. Dept. of Labor in the deportation case of Harry Bridges (1939). Includes correspondence (1937-1945) between Landis as dean of Harvard Law School, and Charles C. Burlington, member of the visiting committee, and letters (1924-1927) from Landis to Jean P. Smith.
